Cosmic Elders Theatre Ensemble

COSMIC ELDERS THEATRE ENSEMBLE is an irreverent group of performance makers born out of a weekly class called Improv and Theatre Games for Seniors (aged 60 and up) offered through the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department. Since 2015, Director and Theater Maker Evan Johnson has cultivated an environment of creative risk-taking and playfulness for older adults to boldly express themselves and share personal stories inside theatrical forms. These actor/creators share a desire to shatter society’s assumptions about aging while crafting original material with courage and dignity. Johnson has witnessed firsthand just how profound the act of making and sharing with this group can be. His main goal is to design innovative strategies to elevate their bravery and create community through the power of witnessing and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Acting Like an Actress with Martha T. Lipton (the failed actress)

Local "semi-professional theatre actress" (and drama teacher!) Martha T. Lipton (Evan Johnson), shares her years of experience in an interactive improv party/class for performers and non-performers alike! She's pulling out all the props! She's dusting off her costume chest and burning a CD of sound effects; so get ready for a rip-roaring, awkwardly fun, group bonding experience! Drink tickets will be awarded to students who make "bold choices" and show "good teamwork"! Grab a drink, an adventurous date and some clothes you can move in!
